Twenty nine third sector and voluntary organisations are set to attend Warrington’s first “Volunteer Festival”, offering residents a range of informal and longer-term voluntary opportunities.

The festival is happening on Thursday 27 April at the Pyramid on Palmyra Square, from 4pm-8pm (last entry 7.45pm) and will be hosted by Warrington Voluntary Action, in association with Warrington Borough Council, LiveWire and Culture Warrington.

The free, drop-in event is open to everyone, from parents to retirees, part timers to full timers, young people and families. The organisations attending will be showcasing a range of volunteering options available in Warrington, including sports and leisure, community and health, arts and culture, animals and the environment and everything in between.

David Matthews has volunteered for both short and longer term placements. He said: “The appeal of shorter term volunteering is that you can fit it around other commitments. I have helped at the last two English Half Marathons and last year’s LiveWire Mile, which only took half a day of my time.”

“My volunteering has also been a great opportunity to meet people from across Warrington and shows that anyone can get involved and make a difference. Bitesize volunteering works for me, as it lets me make a contribution even when I’m at my busiest”.

The event marks the launch of Count me in – a new Warrington-wide campaign aimed at making the borough an even better place to live, work, visit and do business.

Registration for the event can be completed online here. Further information is available from Warrington Voluntary Action by emailing or calling

The organisations attending the Volunteer Festival are:

Active Cheshire, Cheshire Fire and Rescue, Cheshire Trampolining Club, Citizen’s Advice Warrington, Culture Warrington, Emerging Futures, Express Arts, Footsteps, Future Directions, Girl Guiding, Healthwatch Warrington, John Holt Cancer Support Foundation, Lifetime, LiveWire, Trans*Warrington, Scouts, Together UK, Victoria Park Residents Association, Warrington Animal Welfare, Warrington Borough Council neighbourhood team, Warrington Cats Protection League, NHS Warrington CCG, Warrington Disability Partnership, Warrington Ethnic Communities Association, Warrington Homestart, Warrington Mencap, Warrington Voluntary Action, Warrington Wolves Foundation, Wheels for All
