The Essential Guide is pleased to announce that the charity we have chosen to support for the next 12 months is Walton Lea Partnership.
The charity provides supported employment for adults with learning difficulties, aiming to improve their self esteem, helping them play a full part in the local community, developing life, social and work skills.
In order to finance their work, they up-cycle furniture and recycle bikes, make garden furniture, wooden art, bird feeders, bug boxes and bird boxes, as well as selling vegetables, plants and local produce and run short courses in areas such as floristry.
Anne, Director of the Essential Guide, was a special needs teacher and recognises the need for support for adults with learning difficulties.
She says: “We’re looking forward to working with Walton Lea Partnership during the next year. The Essential Guide has a long history of being a champion for the communities we serve by supporting local charities and our support for Walton Lea Partnership is a great way to give back to the community, and an opportunity to work on some exciting projects as well raise awareness of the work this charity does within the community.”
Head of Commercial and Resource Management at Walton Lea Partnership, Lee Nunnerley says: “I can’t thank Anne and her team enough for choosing the Walton Lea Partnership to become the Essential Guide’s supported charity. We’re looking forward to working with the team at the Essential Guide in the coming year.”
Fundraising has started in earnest; a collection was held at the Essential Guide’s recent 12th birthday celebration, and team EG are planning to work closely with WLP, offering the team time out of their working day to volunteer at one of the centres.
A fundraising event is being planned for early next year, and a percentage of each advert fee booked with the Essential Guide in December will be donated to the charity.
If you would like to support Walton Lea Partnership get in touch with one of the team at Essential Guide, who will be happy to help.
