Approximately 4 years ago some members of The Inner Wheel Club of Newton and District Jubilee met together to make silky crescent shaped cushions, for the comfort and relief of pressure for patients who have undergone a mastectomy.
These cushions relieve pressure after surgery and have been much appreciated by both women and men as well.
We send as many as 30 of these cushions per month to 4 hospitals which are Wigan, Halton, Warrington and St. Helens.
We are extremely grateful to COSTCO Haydock for the provision of plastic bags for packaging, SLUMBERDOWN Ashton for the lovely soft filling we use, and The Rotary Club who help us with the cost of very pretty fabrics.
Sadly, there seems to be a never ending demand for these cushions, so we will continue sewing and providing them for as long as we can.
If there is any reader who knows of a source of pretty or plain lightweight fabric we would be very interested.
