Councillor Ian Marks was presented with his MBE Award at an investiture at Buckingham Palace, His Royal Highness Prince William made the presentation.
Ian was accompanied by his wife Pam, his son James, his daughter Katie and his grand-daughter Eva. The Award was announced in the New Year’s Honours List and given for ‘services to the community in Warrington’.
Ian was first elected to Lymm Parish Council in 1979 and to Warrington Council in 1983. Between 2006 and 2011 he was the Leader of Warrington Council serving on various regional bodies. For thirty years he served on the Board of Warrington Housing Association. Twenty years ago he was involved in the setting up of a community and arts Festival in Lymm and has been Chairman for most of the time since then. He also takes an active part in other community activities.
