Warrington Park Runners were entertained by two unusual participants on Saturday 14th April: two ‘Sumo’ Wrestlers who then proceeded to run the 5K course blindfolded.
The exploit was the brainchild of Lymm Runners Tracy Quinn and Justine Dempsey and had a serious message behind it. They both run the 2018 Virgin London Marathon on 22nd April and are raising money and awareness for their chosen charity ‘Look’ National Federation of Families with Visually Impaired Children. The charity provides vital support to help with self-confidence, develop skills and to make new friends. They provide vital emotional support through mentoring projects that can make a life changing difference.
Tracy and Justine were supported by many of their Club Mates and cheered on by runners and volunteers alike.
Tracy commented ‘Well we did it and survived. A brilliant experience. Thank you SO much to our running guides, Sarah McDermott and John Croall for doing such an amazing job and to all the Lymm Runners who helped to get us round safely. We are also grateful for all the kind donations and are well on our way to our £3,000 target.’
