The Essential Guide currently covers eight areas; Culcheth; Stockton Heath/Appleton; Thelwall/Grappenhall/Latchford; Lymm; Birchwood; Great Sankey/Penketh, Chapelford and Lowton/Golborne. Each magazine is hand delivered to homes in each of these villages ensuring that advertisers easily reach their target market. In addition to local advertising each magazine features regular reviews of local events, local people and local life.
The Essential Guide was established in September 2004 in Culcheth to provide a low cost advertising medium for local businesses. Delivered to 3000 homes in Culcheth and Croft.
In 2005 a new magazine covering Stockton Heath was introduced, building on the success of the Culcheth guide. This enabled existing advertisers to increase their target market whilst keeping their costs to a minimum, at the same time attracting a wider customer base for the magazines. Initially delivered to 2500 homes, this edition was increased to 5000 in February 2010 and now covers homes in Appleton as well.
The following year saw the introduction of the Essential Guide to Lymm – the third in the series of magazines, from the start this was very well received in the area by readers and advertisers alike.
In early 2009 a magazine covering the Gorse Covert, Locking Stumps, Oakwood and Cinnamon Brow areas of Birchwood was launched. The summer of 2009 saw the introduction of the fifth issue, delivered to 5000 homes in the Penketh/Sankey area, while in 2010 the Essential Guide to Lowton & Golborne, was introduced. This is delivered to 4000 homes in the area.
The Essential Guide continues to grow from strength to strength: earlier this year The Grapevine was added, and more recently, the Chapelford issue became the eighth magazine in the series. These increase the total circulation of Essential Guide and Grapevine magazines to over 29,000 homes across Warrington. These delivery numbers are guaranteed and extra copies are available in local shops and libraries.
